Vision and Mission
Our vision is to promote the vibrancy and diversity of downtown Louisville through civic and social engagement. Our mission is to engage businesses and individuals committed to enhancing downtown Louisville through services, education and partnerships.
The LDMD partnership program develops advocates who are informed about the value of downtown to the greater Louisville community, have a passion for its success and recognize LDMD as key in enhancing downtown’s economic vitality.
Hot Issues
Mayor taking ‘wait-and-see’ stance on closing Third Street [Business First]
The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau Commission has tapped a Colorado architectural firm to study a possible expansion of the Kentucky International Convention Center.
Among the most controversial proposals that Denver-based Fentress Architects will examine is the possible closing of Third Street between Market and Jefferson streets to accommodate a larger facility.
The 300,000-square-foot center opened in 1977 and was expanded in 2000. [Read more]
Green roof tops new building in Nucleus Innovation Park [WDRB]
U of L is setting a good environmental example as it dedicates the first new building at its research park.
Officials unveiled a model of the green roof that will top the building during a ceremony today at Nucleus Innovation Park on Market Street.
It will feature plants native to Kentucky.
Bernheim Forest nursery specialists are advising building contractors how to design and maintain it. [Read more]

Agenda and Programs
There are numerous opportunities for your business to get your name out to thousands of downtown stakeholders while supporting this city and its combined efforts. Some events and programs have value-added advertising opportunities with multiple media partners. Here is an overview of the current programs:
Republic Bank First Friday Trolley Hop
The Republic Bank First Friday Trolley Hop is an art show, tourist attraction, street party and celebration of downtown Louisville that brings new visitors and new life to the Main and Market corridor. The Trolley Hop takes place on the first Friday of each month from 5-11pm, rain or shine.
Fleur De Licious
Fleur De Licious, Louisville's restaurant week, is a nine-day event that allows visitors and residents to experience some of the city's new and exciting downtown restaurants and cuisine.
Downtown Living Tour
The annual Downtown Living Tour showcases housing units, including condos, apartments and lofts in the downtown area.
LDMD Annual Meeting
Each year the Louisville Downtown Management District holds an annual meeting to celebrate and recognize many of the achievements that have been made in downtown during the previous year. Cornerstone Awards are handed out to development projects totaling more than 1 million dollars in costs.
Summer in the City Promotion
A promotion that runs from May through September highlighting family friendly outdoor events in the downtown Louisville area.
Downtown Flower Pots
There are 192 Flower Pots that beautify the sidewalks of downtown Louisville. Opportunities are available to sponsor single pots as well as block sponsorship with recognition on street banners.
Positive Change
Feed the boxes. Help the Homeless. Positive Change is the Downtown neighborhood's response to a community-wide issue and is designed to direct well-intentioned dollars to social service agencies who provide critical services to the homeless and those with substance abuse problems.

Be Heard
LDMD works closely with elected officials, government staff representatives and numerous other organizations to ensure our member’s interests are addressed and that downtown Louisville remains a priority. We advocate and lobby on behalf of downtown, for the benefit of all property and business owners.
Get Educated
As part of its continuing focus on partnership development, programming will be developed to educate partners regarding the many aspects relating to downtown. Partners additionally receive regular communications about downtown events, activities and updates.
Become Involved
Members of the Downtown Partnership Program also have the opportunity to join all LDMD sponsored standing and ad hoc committees, which include many beautification, sustainability, marketing and streetscape improvement initiatives downtown.
Make Connections
Just as LDMD and its services work to enhance relationships, downtown partners will also be able to develop new relationships and build on existing ones. Through this combined effort all parties will achieve more and develop a strengthened sense of community and better engagement.
